Common Questions

Who can serve legal papers?

I can.  In most states, a Sheriff, Marshall, Constable, or Registered (Certified) Process Server can serve legal documents. Some states allow anyone to serve legal documents as long as they’re not a party to the action – and over the age of 18. Restrictions vary.

How does this process work?

An Arizona Certified Process Server delivers (serves) the legal documents to the individual or defendant in person. Just like a Sheriff or Marshall would. It’s quite simple, actually. Many times, the documents may be delivered by certified mail or sub-served to a person of legal age residing at the same dwelling.

How much does it cost to have papers served?

Usually anywhere between $40.00 – $85.00.  It really depends on how difficult the serve is, how many attempts are made, and additional costs like mileage and printing fees. Don’t know where your subject is? Skip tracing costs will probably be extra.  States and Counties may have set limits on the amount that it will cost you. Rush serves usually cost extra.

Can you offer me any legal advice?

Sorry, no. We are not Attorneys and cannot offer you  any legal advice. Please consult with a competant lawyer who is familiar with service of process laws and other issues you may have.

What if you cannot find the subject?

Unfortunately, this does occur. Some individual’s know that you’re coming, and will take extreme measures to avoid service. You may be able to serve the defendant through publication – as long as you can prove that you performed your due diligence in trying to find the person. Judges may also authorize other means of service.   Consult with a qualified Attorney as laws vary.

Are you licensed?

Of course. I am a licensed Certified Private Process Server for the State of Arizona.  I am able to serve papers and legal documents anywhere in the State.  There are some exceptions – like reservations.

What if I don't know where the person is?

This is where we excel. We’ll locate them for you. Skip tracing fees will apply, of course, but we’re known for completing very tough serves.

What if the person is out of state?

Honestly, I would consider doing an internet search for a process server in the state where your subject resides. We do not personally serve legal documents outside the state. If you have difficulty locating a registered process server – give us a call and we’ll help you out.
